An awesome addition to the Cwmcarn trail options, the Cafall trail is challenging, interesting and best of all.. bucket loads of fun!
The climbing while less technical than the Twrch trail, is fairly relentless and contains about a million switchbacks to test your slow speed bike handling skills. There are a few fun downhill sections along the way to keep you interested but the Cafall trail is pretty much an up and down affair.
On reaching the top, you are swiftly into some narrow, natural-style singletrack through a stunning old woodland, then things steepen and the real fun starts. The descents back down to the visitor centre on this trail are pretty raucous, and a bit tricky in places. There are some steep switchbacks and some nadgery technical sections which demand complete focus. This is a satisfying mountain biking challenge that all intermediate riders should thoroughly enjoy.
Just what Cwmcarn needed.. a bit of spice thrown back into a classic South Wales trail centre.
