Downhill? In Swansea city centre? Yes, that's right folks... the latest craze in mountain biking hits the urban environment of Swansea this weekend.
Urban downhill seems to getting more and more widespread these days following the success of events in cities all over the world. Notable examples are Lisbon in Portugal, Valparaiso in Chile and Sheffield in England. Well now, Wales is joining the party with Red Bull Downforce! This Sunday at 2:00pm 32 of the UKs top downhill riders will blast through the streets and down the steep steps of Swansea city centre. This promises to be a wild and raucous event which the organisers anticipate will attract large numbers of spectators.
The course starts at Nicander Parade with the finish line on The Kingsway. Spectating is free and you are recommended to arrive around midday to see the action unfold with final runs at around 3pm.
Look out for former World champ Gee Atherton who will no doubt smash this course in style!
