The Brecon Beacons National Park is home to some of the finest mountain bike trails in the UK. The routes differ from many of those featured on this website as they are not purpose built facilities but natural trails which have existed for hundreds of years. Some may consider this a purer form of the sport and while slightly more preparation and planning is required, the rewards are great, with epic mountain views and a chance to see some amazing wildlife. There are also many easy mountain bike trails in the area suited to novices, families or those looking for a relaxing day out.
The National Park covers a large area and there are many locations to start your route. There is a pack of 14 route maps available from the park’s many visitor centres and the website www.mtbbreconbeacons.co.uk is a great resource. Pack up your gear and head to the Brecons for a true mountain biking adventure.

The Brecon Beacons are located in South Wales close to the border with England, easily accessible from the M4 to the South or the A40 from the North. Visitor centres are located throughout the park and mountain biking is possible from a wide range of start points.
