Machynlleth offers a slightly different mountain biking package than most of the other locations in Wales. There is the Cli-Machx man made trail a couple of miles out of town and there are also many possibilities for cross country mountain biking in the surrounding valleys.

The best thing to do when you arrive in Machynlleth is to head to the three reccommended routes in the area; Mach 1, Mach2 and Mach 3. All of these are classic cross country style routes which involve a basic amount of navigation but reward the rider with a great mountain biking journey around the beautiful Dyfi valley with fantastic views across the countryside.

If you decide to ride Mach 3, watch out for the infamous "Chute"!
