Mountain Ash is used for the Dragon Downhill Welsh Championships and so is not ideally suited to recreational use. There are practice days with an organised uplift to get riders and their bikes to the top and it is recommended to use this approach if you would like to ride here.

From the South and M4 take Junction 32 and head North on the A470. Continue past Pontypridd on the A470 and at the first roundabout take the first exit towards Mountain Ash and Aberdare on the A4059. After 2 miles you will see a forestry commission entrance on your right. Outside of official events there is no vehicle access to this area so you will need to park somewhere nearby. There is a layby a quarter of a mile down the road.
