The Twrch trail is the main reason many mountain bikers come to Cwmcarn. It is a trail of medium length and difficulty which will please newcomers and experienced riders alike.

The riding is mainly woodland singletrack with some roots, rocks and off-camber challenges thrown in for good measure. It is however, fairly forgiving to beginners as all sections are rideable with no big drop-offs to catch you off guard. The fun factor is entirely up to you - the faster you choose to ride here, the bigger the grin on your face!

The format is essentially a big climb to the top and then mostly downhill all the way back to the car park with the odd smaller climb along the way. The final descent is a trail building masterpiece being the fastest and most flowy section of the entire route.

A popular option here is to stop off at the freeride park for a while and repeat the loop a few times before continuing back down the Twrch trail.
