This is a circular mountain bike route suitable for most riders around the Usk reservoir. The reservoir is cradled between the stark uplands of Mynydd Myddfai and Mynydd Wysg and is perfectly placed for great views of the dramatic sweep of the mountainous Carmarthen Fans. The majority of this route follows a wide stoned track skirting the reservoir, which gets muddy in some places when wet and there is a small stretch on a quiet public road. Halfway round the route there is a picnic table which makes a natural place to take a break and enjoy the attractive views across the Black Mountains. If this car park is full you can start the route from the car park next to the dam. Take care when crossing the dam as the vechicle barriers make it a tight squeeze for bikes.
